Metal castings not only have good dimensional accuracy, but also have a smooth surface, and in the case of casting the same metal solution, the casting strength is higher than that of the sand type, and it is more likely to be damaged. Therefore, in the mass production of non-ferrous metals in small-sized castings, as long as the melting point of the precision-casting processed material is too high, metal precision casting processing is generally preferred. However, metal precision casting also has some disadvantages: metal molds are expensive because of the heat-resistant alloy steel and its hollow cavity in processing, but the overall and die-casting molds are also much cheaper. For small batch production, the cost of mold for each product is significantly too high and generally not acceptable. Since the metal mold is constrained by the mold material size and the cavity processing equipment and the ability of the precision casting processing equipment, the special casting also seems to be weak. Therefore, in small batch production, metal castings are rarely used. In addition, although the metal mold uses heat-resistant alloy steel, the heat capacity is still limited, and it is generally used for aluminum, zinc alloy, magnesium alloy castings, copper alloy castings have been used less, and even for ferrous castings.
